About us

Larne Congregational Church (independent church) has met on the Curran Road since 1910.  We give thanks to God for all the good that he has accompolished through our church in the past. The years have marched on and Larne has seen many changes yet we believe that Jesus' mission for His church hasn't changed.

Our mission is to be a gospel centered community that

  • Live like Jesus and for Jesus (Matthew 28v18-20, Mark 1v17, 2 Corinthians 5v15)

  • Love one another as Jesus has loved us (John 13v34-35, John 15v12-14, 1 John 4v7-11)

  • Lead others to know Jesus (Acts 1v8)

1. THE GOSPEL - The church we see is a church that is committed to keeping the gospel central…

We believe the gospel really is the hope for this world. Through the gospel not only can people be made new and begin a relationhip with God but one day this world will be made new again. We passionately sing the gospel and passionately preach the gospel. Both believers and unbelievers are continually being convicted, melted, healed, changed, and moved to obedience under the powerful Holy Spirit anointed preaching of the gospel.

2. PRAYER - The church we see is a church that is committed to depending on God…

A church where believers express their dependance on God by gathering regularly for prayer in order to praise and thank their God, to confess their sins and to present bold faith filled requests. We are starting to become a ‘house of prayer’. Our times in prayer are marked by a tangible sense of the Lord’s presence. They are both times of refreshing when we delight in God and times of wrestling when we bring our needs and the needs of others to God.

3. DISCIPLESHIP - The church we see is a church that is committed to making disciples…

A church that is a disciple making ‘centre of excellence’. Everyone that God sends us is being challenged to become a follower of the Lord Jesus or nurtured into mature followers of the Lord Jesus.

4. FELLOWSHIP - The church we see is a church that is committed to being a caring community…

A church where everyone ‘belongs’ and is enveloped into the joy of a close caring community. People enjoy spending time with one another and are making deep friendships that will start now and last for all eternity. There is so much love and joy in our community people can’t wait to come together and don’t want to leave when it’s time to go home. No one is a spectator. Every member is using their God given gifts to serve and build up the body.

5. EVANGELISM - The church we see is a church that is committed to reaching out...

A church where every believer is burdened to spread the good news about Jesus and serve their community with deeds of love. Believers are so overflowing with the joy of knowing Jesus that they cannot keep Jesus to themselves. Believers are making friends with unbelievers and inviting family and friends and neighbours into the church community to both hear the gospel and see the gospel on display in the lives of believers. There is a continual stream of new people coming to explore the Christian faith. The preaching in the church is relevant, understandable and addresses the common questions and objections of the unbeliever. Every month there are powerful testimonies of people of all ages coming to faith in Christ. The town is starting to sit up and take notice of what God is doing.
